About the research works competition «We were given…»

Research work – is the most complicated, but the most interesting form of participation in the Project doubtlessly. We offer you to write a short study-essay, dedicated to the place and the role of a language in culture.

Topics of the competition:

• Why do we write and say it in such a way? Why do the traditions and norms of speech change? What were the traditions and norms of the past? Can we accept the «SMS-language»? What is «good» or «bad» in a speech of a modern teenager? Are there any speech-patters today?
• The law of a letter The main letters of an alphabet. The role of a letter in a language, history, culture. Is a letter just a sign or is it kind of a symbol?
• Life of a word in another language Words also travel in time and space. Do we always need to borrow foreign words? Tell about the story and the role of such words.

The participants

The individual participation in the following age groups:

• 7-11 years;
• 12-14 years;
• 15-18 years.
